Gus’ Last Word in Wood-Ridge Announces Opening Date

Gus’ Last Word, the “neighborhood restaurant and bar” coming to Wood-Ridge has announced an opening date.

Coming from Thomas & Dean Maroulakos and their Skopos Hospitality Group – the team behind Cowan’s Public in Nutley (Website) and The Barrow House in Clifton (Website) — say it’s “a love letter to the classic bars of the 1950s”, with a focus on stiff cocktails, icy drafts and comforting American fare that’s “centered around the warm hospitality we were raised on”.

The space will be inspired by their grandparents pine paneled cellar bar — composed of two rooms along with a seasonal backyard bar.

A food menu will feature classic American bar fare, comforting entrees, and thin crust pizza with a focus on local and seasonal ingredients. The beverage program will feature plays on classic cocktails, 16 craft beers and wine focused on a mix of domestic and international offerings.

It’s replacing Cousin Vinny’s restaurant and their grand opening is currently slated for July 7th.
