Dubbed as “two distinctive experiences under one roof”, Stella & Danny’s along with Proof 142, have opened in Hawthorne.

Owned by John Gregg and Ron Bender,  Ron owned Benders (Hawthorne) and the Oak Ale House (Maywood).

For the Stella & Danny’s crowd, they are offering “great tasting, chef -driven recipes” with a menu (View Stella & Danny’s Menu) of “American-inspired cuisine” — including all bread and deserts made in house — from their chef Vaughn Crenshaw, formerly of the Saddler River Inn where he was the sous-chef. Vaughn has been featured on Chopped and Beat Bobby Flay and grew up locally in Passaic County.

The bar features craft cocktails that have been developed with their bar manager Christopher Gramaglia – who’s worked previously at Antique Bar & Bakery (Hoboken) and The Third Man (NYC).

Proof 142 Lounge, is their speakeasy concept located downstairs, which offers lounge offers live entertainment and craft cocktails aloing with “eclectic Gastropub fare”.
