With it’s origins in Europe – Switzerland, Germany, The Netherlands all have their take – the United States sent this “lowbrow-brilliant” invention into one of our own.
They went with the Italian hot dog — an all-beef dog or an Italian sausage topped with peppers, onions, and fried potatoes as the style of choice for their pick for Jersey — at Tommy’s Italian Sausage in Elizabeth.
