Jersey’s Penelope Bourbon is One of the Best Bourbons You Can Buy

Men’s Health magazine got a little boozy with their list of These Are the 21 Best Whiskey Bourbons You Can Buy (Read Story).

As one of “America’s most cherished innovations”, bourbon has been crafted here since the 18th century and it’s been officially recognized as a “distinctive product of the United States” by Congress back in 1964.

Penelope Bourbon (Website), the Roselle-based brand was the only New Jersey distiller to make the list with their Penelope Bourbon Rosé Cask Finish.

This “funky variation” of single-barrel straight bourbon whiskey uses French rosé casks to complement the bourbon’s four-grain blend.

It’s the latest of accolades for the brand, their Penelope Bourbon Barrel Strength won Double Gold in the Straight Bourbon category at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (Website) earlier this year along with mentions in Cosmopolitan (Read List) and The Manual Guide (Read List).

The folks at Penelope partner with Castle & Key in Frankfort, KY for bottling, but also have their small batch bottling line in state. Most of their R&D, limited releases and Private Selects are produced locally, but larger runs are produced in Kentucky.
