Details on Upcoming Ramen Matsu in Closter

There’s been some new details to trickle in about Ramen Matsu, the new ramen shop that’s expected to open this week in Closter.

The concept is true Japanese ramen shop serving chintan (clear soup) with shoyu or shio. There will also be a spicy version of the shoyu and vegan clear shoyu plus abuta soba (soupless ramen). They will be using noodles from local Carlstadt purveyor Sun Noodle — who also provides noodles to the likes of David Chang and Ivan Orkin.

In addition to the ramen, they’ll be serving a couple of mini rice donburi bowls from theit open kitchen.

Expect the restaurant to offer takeout and be reservation only for indoor dining — the online reservation will have 30 minute time slots plus 15 minutes for cleaning and sanitizing. Because of the COVID restrictions, they can only have a maximum of five customers at a time.

Open six days a week (closed Mondays), takeout hours will be 11:15am to 3:00pm and then 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
