Last Showing for CMX Cinemas in Closter
CMX Cinemas (Website), which operates a location in Closter and has one planned for the the American Dream project in East Rutherford, has filed for bankruptcy.
They did so as a result of the economic crisis precipitated by the coronavirus pandemic. This filing was done to “help ensure the long-term viability” of their business, which includes the “ability to protect” their employees.
The Closter location had to close since the Governors in NY, NJ, and CT issued their group restrictions on March 16th, while East Rutherford has specific plans for CMX CinéBistro, their “world-class dinner-and-a-movie concept” that offers reserved seating, roomy high-back leather chairs, and full service in-theater dining from a scratch kitchen plus full bar.
Now under Chapter 11 reorganization, they aim to restructure while protecting employees and to “emerge in a strong and viable long-term financial condition”.
