Opening Alert: Brasserie Memere, Closter, NJ

Brasserie Memere, a new French-style brasserie from restaurateur/chef Thomas Ciszak, has opened in Closter.

The menu (View Menu) features Cizak’s plan is to present an “authentic experience” with classics like beef bourguignon, escargot, and French-style butter noodles — what he’s calling “sophisticated yet casual french fare” with a “hint of foie gras”.

The culinary team includes chef Kevin Takafuji, an alumni of Daniel Boulud and Eric Ripert (Le Bernadin) who was recently chef at Pluckemin Inn. He’ll be overseeing it all, including lunch, dinner, and brunch in the multiple dining rooms along with a retail bakery area — croissants, baguettes, and other french pastries.

The bar offers signature cocktails plays on some French classics, a section of low proof specialty drinks and carefully sourced wine offerings — all showcased on 30 foot custom made zinc bar.

Counting 145 seats in split dining areas plus another 50 in the “beautiful outdoor patio area” that will be accesible with the eventual warm weather — Memere is currently open for dinner only.
