Chef Chris Holland Goes for Hat Trick this Week on Chopped

Chris Holland, the executive chef at DVine Bar in Sparkill (Website) and pizza offshoot DVine Pie in Piermont (Website), is going for history this week as he tries to be one of the few three time winners on competition show Chopped.

Plenty has happened since his last appearance in 2017, including the public reveal during the show of his multiple sclerosis diagnosis — which came 15 years ago before he was a chef. This time around he will be competing for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, a charity that unsurprisingly means alot to him.

Angry at first, Holland “became self-destructive” before realizing he needed to move past the diagnosis — now he takes strength from it everyday and appreciates the fact he’s made the most of the opportunities given to him including entering the food world, becoming a father, and even cooking for his culinary idol Alton Brown.

With all the success, he’s become a poster child of sorts for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, even inspiring others with the disease to chase their dreams and never give up.

The Thanksgiving-themed episode featuring other Chopped “champions” airs Tuesday night (11/12) at 9:00pm on the Food Network (Episode Info).
