Opening Alert: Delhi Accent, Ridgewood, NJ

Delhi Accent, a new Indian restaurant, has opened in Ridgewood with the goal to bring “Modern, Innovative Indian Dining” to the village.

Owner Akshay Jhanjee, the founder of Khyber Grill Frontier Indian Cuisine & Caterers and co-owner of Tashan (West Caldwell), is a second-generation restaurateur and caterer — his father Raja Jhanjee co-owns Bukhara Grill (NYC) — he’s been working in the family biz since age 14.

His chef Gunkhar Pandey is putting an “innovative spin on Indian dishes” that are designed to “still taste authentic” — all of which are inspired by the delicacies of Delhi, India.

Pandey’s menu (View Menu) includes small plates as well as standard full-size entrees, lunch specials and a Chef Special Menu which will rotate weekly. This includes clay oven items, extremely large breads, and Delhi-inspired street chaats, including both vegetarian and non-vegetarian items.

The 80 seat restaurant is open 7 days for both lunch and dinner with brunch coming later this year.
