Cowan’s Public and Barrow House Team to Open Franklin Social

Skopos Hospitality, the team behind Cowan’s Public in Nutley and The Barrow House in Clifton, are opening a modern take on the American Tavern in Historic Downtown Jersey City. Franklin Social, a tavern and garden, is expected to open sometime in January.

The seasonally driven menu will offer “thoughtful and progressive” takes on classic dishes, highlighting local ingredients with a cocktail program that will draw inspiration from Franklin’s 13 virtues and how we so choose (or not) to abide them.

Draught lines will pour a mix of classics, ciders and rotating seasonal selections, complimented by a wine list that focuses on small farm and biodynamic producers with American roots.

Composed of three unique rooms, the design will honor the building’s intrinsic architectural details while incorporating elements of early colonial life.

For those looking for an early taste, they’ll be hosting a holiday popup in the space beginning on Black Friday
