North Jersey Company Wins First Place at American Cheese Society Awards

The American Cheese Society hosted their annual competition of the best cheese in the country earlier this month in Richmond. This event (Event Website) is the largest competition in the United States for American cheese.

The organization promotes the national cheese industry through education, networking, engagement, and sustainability. With the event covering over 100 categories like soft-ripened, American originals, Italian type, and washed rind (many broken down even further based on types of milks used), there were 433 winners across all entrants.

New Jersey had one winner, the Burrata Con Tartufo was named First Place for Flavored Cheeses (Open Category – Cheeses with Flavor Added – all milks and mixed milks) from Lioni Latticini in Union. The cheese features the “finest Italian black truffles” in a “delicious creamy” panna di latte and pasta filata mozzarella according to their website (Visit Site).

In addition, the cheese got a positive recommendation from the New York Times (Read Full Article) last year. Many of their products can be found locally at Fairway Market, Kings, and Stop & Shop.
