Two Bergen Soft Serves Are Best in New Jersey

As with all foodstuffs, NJ.com writer Peter Genovese has broken down the best in the state, this time with his list of N.J.’s 26 best soft-serve ice cream spots (Read Full Article), to coincide with National Soft-Serve Ice Cream Day.

The smoother and softer cousin of the hard (duh) ice cream variety, the list tries to give soft serve it’s due, which is gets little respect in New Jersey according to Genovese.

Two of the twenty-six spots are right here in Bergen County, making it easy for locals to grab a cone and indulge. This includes Ice Cream by Mike in Ridgewood (Website), who’s “vanilla soft-serve may be the state’s best” — they also recently added vegan options to their menu.

The other is Ernie’s Ice Cream in Mahwah (Website), with 35 flavors — including ones like dulce de leche, German cake, key lime — many not typically found as soft serve.
