Opening Alert: Taan Thai, Bergenfield, NJ

Taan Thai, a new Thai restaurant, has opened in Bergenfield.

The two co-owners are also the chefs. Head chef Mimi Khetpanya, who grew up in a small village in Thailand and started learning how to cook from a young age — at the age of 7 she began watching her mom prepare and sell food at local markets in nearby villages — while sous chef Noah Pitsama – who also grew up in a small village — gained culinary passion as the designated cook at volley camps he participated in over summer vacations.

Mimi was previously a partner of Chai Thai Kitchen (Manhattan) and also opened Baoburg, an Asian comfort food restaurant in Greenpoint (Brooklyn). They decided to open the restaurant because they feel at home in the kitchen and love to see people enjoying their food.

The menu (View Menu) is an assortment of Thai food, quick, easy and a “flair of authentic Thai street food”.  They are using classic recipes “straight from mom’s cookbook”.

Taan is open every day of the week for lunch and dinner, offering delivery (Door Dash), takeout, and some outdoor patio seating during the warmer months.
