Primo Hoagies has Opened in Mahwah

After opening in July and closing quite quickly, the first Primo Hoagies in back again after some shuffling.  The chain offering “Italian specialty sandwiches” from South Philly is now under new ownership and has re-opened in the same location.

Owners Anthony Falange and Felix Galinsky have spent the last few weeks training staff and making deliveries ― using the pandemic to offer sandwiches and more to the community.

The menu (View Menu) features bread that is baked every two hours and Thumann’s meats and cheeses (including the liberal use of sharp provolone) are used for many of the sandwich creations. The current menu includes Italian classics with salami, soppressata, capicola, and prosciutto, Philly steaks, specialties, and “Diablos”, which are spicy hoagies topped with hot pepper cheese.

If you’re into cheesesteaks ― the brand is from Philly after all ― they use loin tail, a cut that runs between the loin and the flank. This gives the meat a lot of flavor, because it’s essentially “two steak cuts in one”. They also offer the not-quite-as-famous Roast Pork sandwich ― another Philly staple ― featuring fresh roast pork served in various configurations.

Of course there’s salads too, with all produce being sourced locally and chopped fresh every day.

The store is open seven days a week from 10:00am till 8:00pm.
