Lidl Supermarket Coming to Tappan Instead?

Lidl, the global discount supermarket chain, is looking to open at Tappan Plaza according to a report by the Rockand County Business Journal. This would clearly take any spot by the rumored Uncle Giuseppe’s reported by Boozy Burbs a few weeks ago instead.

The shopping center owner filed for a permit last year for a demo project to construct a freestanding supermarket at the whopping cost of $3.2 million according to the same report — though it didn’t mention if Lidl was specifically named in that filing.

The chain (Website) has been growing in the US, and even New Jersey — it operates over 10,000 stores around the world — Bergen County got it’s first location of the German chain when it opened in Bergenfield last year.
