After producing and Gypsy brewing for the late 7 years, owners Bob Olson and Scott Wells of Bolero Snort (Website) have opened a brewery with a tasting room in Carlstadt, New Jersey. With their beer in over 500 accounts, you’ve most likely seen their product in restaurants, bars, and supply stores along the way. Now you can have a cold one after taking a tour!

The official grand opening was on January 17th thru the 20th. We had the pleasure of visiting on a crisp Sunday as the brewery had opened its doors during their soft opening. 

The facility itself is massive with the production area being the main spectacle. Alongside their brand new tanks, they have two much smaller ones with some years on them. It was nice to learn these two 30 barrel tanks were with the crew since the very beginning –  showing an amount of growth and prosperity while also paying homage to their start.

A fan favorite, OVB, will of course be available. We’ve had the opportunity to try it at the late Dog & Cask in Rochelle Park (RIP). On our trip to the new spot we tried some new-to-us beer. 

Maple Mild Mannered Bull – The maple notes came through to compliment the full body that the ale has to offer. 

Bullyum – This American Pale Ale is perfect for spice-craving taste buds. Thai chili, ginger and lime are packed into this unique brew. 

Emperor Bullpatine with Mango + Habanero – Another spicy beer! With this one, they took their regular Emperor Bullpatine and added, you guessed it, mango and habanero. 

If you haven’t noticed, they have a bovine theme going on. 

When it comes to breweries, most usually offer a multitude of ways to enjoy their beer in the comfort of your home: growlers, crowlers, cans. In the case of Bolero Snort, you can do all three.  While most breweries call in an outside business, Bolero has the ability to can their beer in the comfort of their own brewery with their impressive canning machine. We also enjoyed checking out their spinbot, which is basically an instant pot for beer. This is how they are able to experiment with different recipes before fully producing a batch. The taproom team will stay late into the night to try out a new creation. 

No food here – but feel free to bring your own or grab some take out from a local spot before you go! Make sure to join their membership club too. The brewery is located at 316 20th Street in Carlstadt (Website).
