Benares, a new restaurant serving “contemporary authentic Indian Cuisine”, has opened in Wyckoff. It is located in the former retail space of Saffron at the Boulder Run Shopping Center.

This is the first New Jersey restaurant for Benares — it’s an offshoot of the Tribeca restaurant of the same name, where the kitchen there is run by Chef Dhandu Ram (previously co-executive chef at Michelin-starred restaurant Tulsi). Another location in the Theater District on Restaurant Row shuttered some time in the last year and a half.

The menu (View Menu) features Tandoori specialties with an emphasis on the cuisine of Utter Pradesh — the Indian state where the city of Benares resides. While the region is known for their vegetarian dishes, Benares offers many dishes with chicken, lamb, goat, and seafood. There’s also a number of vegan dishes as well as a selection of fresh-baked breads. A lunch buffet is served daily.

According to Google, the restaurant is open seven days a week for both lunch and dinner.
