Opening Alert: Stew Leonard’s, Paramus, NJ

Stew Leonard’s, the popular grocery store chain, has opened it’s first New Jersey location in Paramus. Taking 80,000 square feet at Paramus Park mall, the store is located in the former Sears location.

In addition to their kid-friendly animatronics, customers will find the same signature elements found in the other locations, including a one-way aisle and the Stew Leonard’s Wishing Well benefiting local non-profits. Since more than 80% of the products sold by Stew Leonard’s are fresh, the new store’s production areas were designed as an open concept.

Departments include Bethy’s Bakery (named for Beth Leonard, daughter of store founder Stew Leonard, serving items like cookies, hearth-baked bagels and croissants straight from the oven), Dairy (Stew Leonard’s milk comes straight from award-winning dairy farms in upstate New York and is free from artificial growth hormones and antibiotics, plus eggs, butter, yogurt, and more), Butcher Shop (offering a wide selection of meats direct from ranchers in Kansas, Wyoming, and Nebraska, including grass fed products and offerings), Deli (mozzarella and creamy burrata made fresh daily with a selection of both American and international specialty cheeses – as well as meats, including Boar’s Head and Stew’s own line of roasted deli products), Produce (lots of local choices), fish department with more than 30 varieties of fresh caught seafood, and a grocery selection offering a mix of national brands, private label, and others.

As far as prepared foods, Mrs. Leonard’s Kitchen offers an open concept kitchen with hearth-like stone wall, ovens, grills, a wok, a rotisserie, and an open prep area for Stew’s culinary team of 50 as they prepare 100+ foods to-go. Many of the brand’s most-loved recipes – including meatballs, our award-winning soups, Bolognese sauce, and a tomato roasted salmon dish – come directly from the recipe box of Mrs. Marianne Leonard, wife of store founder Stew Sr. The store will also offer a catering department offering a variety of dishes, from tender filet mignon and roasted turkey to a selection of side dishes, sushi platters, sandwiches, chicken wings and more.

The Paramus Park Mall will also be the new home of Stew Leonard’s Wines & Spirits of Paramus, which will move from their current location on Route 17 to the interior of the Paramus food store, offering shoppers more than 1,600 wines, 800 spirits and 500 beers.

The food store will be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. Stew Leonard’s Wines & Spirits will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. and from Noon – 9 p.m. on Sunday.
