Plant-Based Dinners Are Just the Vegan-ing at 17 Summer in Lodi

About a year and a half ago, the brother/sister team of Joseph and Jenna Cuccia at 17 Summer in Lodi discovered some of their best customers were vegan and had trouble dining at the restaurant.

They told those customers to come back anytime and they would make sure to accommodate their culinary preferences – after taking them up on the offer (and the Cuccias cooking up vegan dishes), they’ve been back to the restaurant every week for dinner since. This inspired the duo to expand their horizons with research and testing to make those dinners something special.

Fast forward a short while later, they launched their first public vegan dinner last September and every month since. Tickets sell out within days – they serve a 5 course, entirely plant-based meal, with no soy, fake meat, or fillers. Cuccia says they are literally “celebrating the vegetables” with each experience. The James Beard Foundation has also started a Vegan Monthly Series and when they saw 17 Summer was hosting their own, they reached out immediately to get them on board and in rotation.
