The Daily Meal has revealed their choices for the 150 Best Bars in America (Read Full List).

The NJ love was extremely slim, in fact only one bar in the entire state was named to the list. Coming in at number #136 was the octogenarian Newark spot McGovern’s Tavern.

It’s proximity to Penn Station (6 blocks), mix of patrons (college students, police, office workers and blue collar types), and food like the Dublin Decker (corned beef, turkey, Swiss cheese, coleslaw, and Russian dressing served on rye bread) were noted in the appeal.

McGovern’s is open six days a week (closed Sundays).
