The folks at Thrillist decided to bear the brunt and select the “official beers” of every state (See Full Article). Since each has an official bird, official fruit, etc…. why not beer?

Beers had to meet a few qualifications including invigorating in the state (duh). Locals had to enjoy it (double duh). It had to be widely available… though not necessarily the best, just the most “representative” of the state.

New Jersey’s winner was Carton Boat Beer from the Atlantic Highlands brewery. The pale ale is lovingly described “as light, breezy, and refreshing as a summer afternoon on the Jersey Shore”. That works for us.
