Big Bowls Little Plates, a ramen (big bowls) and small dishes (little plates) restaurant, has opened in Rutherford from the owners of Village Restaurant Group (Village Gourmet – Rutherford, Taos – East Rutherford, Delmonico Steakhouse, Tina Louise – Carlstadt). The space for this “Modern+Rustic+Fast+Casual” noodle house was completely renovated from the former Bergen Burger location.

The menu (View Menu) features ramen with both meat and veggie broths and some traditional and non-traditional plays on the classic noodle dish. Like many NYC ramen shops, they are using local ramen purveyor Sun Noodle – the small menu also offers those small plates: appetizers, dumplings, wontons, raviolis, and buns – mostly Asian-style dishes. Dipping sauces – about 7 are available – are self-serve and available at the counter. They also offer fresh squeezed lemonade, organeade and limeade.

Customers order at the counter, by checking boxes on the menu and then pay. Food is then brought to the table when ready. Big Bowls Little Plates is currently 6 days (Tuesdays-Sundays) for lunch and dinner, though plans are in the works to open Mondays as well.
