Terre a Terre, the farm-to-table restaurant from chef/owner Todd Villani, has announced it will be closing at the end of next month. The restaurant opened in October 2013 to overwhelming positive reviews, including “Very Good” from the New York Times. Villani took to Facebook earlier today, posting a heartfelt message to fans:

Regrettably, as of June 30, Terre à Terre will be closing. This has been a difficult decision, but as our lease was drawing to a close we had to make the hard decision on whether to renew the terms. In the end, we decided it’s time for a new chapter in this book of life. It’s been our pleasure serving you. Over the past three years, we have made every effort to provide our guests with the best possible dining experience. We were fierce advocates for “Jersey fresh” and sought out the freshest, local foods. And we worked with some of the most passionate farmers, food artisans, and food producers in the area. We considered it our personal responsibility to ensure that every one of our guests felt special and cared for. To us, it was imperative that we improved and evolved each day. We constantly examined our menu, service and standards and strived to improve. When we fell short, we worked even harder to create something truly unique in Bergen County.

On a personal note, Terre à Terre has given me gratifying achievements beyond my wildest dreams. I’ve made lifelong friends and colleagues. I’ve employed incredible, passionate people who joined me in redefining the dining experience. My family has been incredibly supportive. And as for my customers, what can I say? You’ve made it all worth it. We are grateful to everyone who has supported us and we hope to see you one last time. Reservations are greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your support.
