Fast-casual build-your-own pizza restaurant Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint has announced expansion into the Northeast and will open in New Jersey later this year. The brand has secured a deal to build five Uncle Maddio’s restaurants in Morris, Somerset, Middlesex, Essex and (yes) Bergen counties. The first restaurant is expected to open in late 2015.

“Opening our first New Jersey restaurant is a big milestone for our company,” said Matt Andrew, CEO of Uncle Maddio’s. “The Northeast offers a big opportunity for us to expand and New Jersey is the perfect place to start.”

The chain already operates in 18 states offering high pizza customization (View Menu) with choice of 4 sizes, 3 crusts (including gluten-free) and 48 toppings (6 sauces, 27 vegetables and 15 meats) — more than 30 of which are made daily in-house. In addition to gluten-free, they offer a whole crust, hormone-free chicken, source local vegetables, Daiya vegan cheese and organic greens.
