Sandwich Designs Reopens as Mersina’s in Englewood

French Onion

Sandwich Designs, the sandwich-centric restaurant that opened in late October and closed for renovations in December, has reopened as Mersina’s. The name change was predicated on the fact that they are no longer specializing in sandwiches only.

Owners George and Mersina Ocampo have a combined 40 years of experience in the dining industry, with Geroge spending time as a chef and Mersina grew up in the industry ― her parents operating restaurants in Florida, New York City, and Massachusetts.

The menu (see below) at Mershina’s still offers the same sandwiches, but now there are also burgers, salads and more. They also have a new section called the Stick Bar – a selection of skewered meats and vegetables available “by the stick”.

The renovations were done by husband and wife team Kostas and Marcy Prastos. Mersina’s has been redesigned to feel like someone’s home when you walk in. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers local delivery.
