Just Falafel — a “street food” chain based in the United Arab Emirates — is coming to the food court at Garden State Plaza mall in Paramus. The chain is located in 8 countries with a Menlo Park Mall (NJ) location having opened in late 2014.

The restaurant serves globally-inspired Mediterranean falafel (ground chickpea balls) sandwiches, salads and more (View Menu). Sandwiches use the falafel as a base, then are inspired by the International cuisines like American (a falafel burger), Burrito (falafel with salsa, cheese, wrapped in a tortilla), and Italian (falafelon Ciabatta bread, pesto, mozzarella).

Customers can also create their own — similar to Chipotle — with choice of wrap/bowl, type of bread (if wrap is chosen), and protein (Falafel or Chikn’n Tender). Falafels can be either baked or fried and the Chick’n Tenders are Gardein brand (vegan). There’s also shawarma (using halal meat) on the menu — the Menlo Park was the first location to offer this option.

Just Falafel is aiming for an April opening date for the location.
