Modern Italian restaurant Giostra, which has opened in Tappan, comes from brothers Dario and Marino Disaverio. The two worked at Il Portico for over 15 years, not to mention a few family restaurants in NYC. At Giostra, Marino is helming the kitchen while Dario is handling front of house duties.

The menu (see below) features a selection of crudo and small plates, but also offers plenty of appetizer and main course options. The permanent menu will change seasonally, with Disaverio promising “weekly” updates with many specials on a nightly basis. All breads are coming from Northvale’s Amato Bakery.

There is a full bar, with a 30 bottle wine list. They are developing a cocktail program and have a number of bottled beers.

The 700 square foot restaurant seats about 40, with another 8 at the bar. The space was  the first venture in restaurant decorating for local Nyack artist Brenda Kilgore. The are open Tuesday thru Saturday, with dinner service on each and lunch Tuesday thru Friday. They are offering dinner late night on Fridays and Saturdays till midnight.
