Earlier today, “Modern French” restaurant Harvest Bistro — open in Closter since 2003 — announced it would be closing at the end of the week. Harvest owner Russell Stern took to Facebook earlier today with a heartfelt message to fans:

This will be our last week at Harvest. I cannot begin to convey how wonderful it has been these last thirteen years and what a privilege it was to share so many wonderful experiences with you. This Sunday, May 22nd we will be closing our doors. I hope that many of you will come in this week to say goodbye and allow me to to personally thank you for your support for all these years.

I am incredibly grateful for the friendships that I have made here which have truly enriched my life more than I can express.

Again, thank you for your patronage and support.

This stretch on Schraalenburgh Road is already undergoing changes with the upcoming Cuban restaurant Azucar replacing Cask 171 later this summer — plus it potentially opens up another liquor license in town. This is also the second high profile closing in the last week, Terre a Terre in Carlstadt announced they are closing at the end of June.
