James Harlin and Jeff Lefkowitz started their healthy brand of walnut snacks called R.N. Nuts back in 2010. Based in the Ho-Ho-Kus area, these Bergen County food entrepreneurs were looking to create a snack product that “keeps health in mind without sacrificing taste”. They chose to work with walnuts due their health benefits of lowering cholesterol, high omega-3 fats and other advantages like studies showing positive results in lab mice for degenerative brain diseases, breast cancer and more. R.N. Nuts use all natural ingredients & flavors and are gluten-free. In an attempt to expand their business, they have turned to Kickstarter (a crowd funding platform we’ve written about before) to raise capital as they grow. The have many rotating flavors, but for Kickstarter they are offering packs with choices of Cocoa, Coffee, Cinnamon Bun, Gingerbread, Pumpkin Pie and Maple. As of this post, there are 15 days left for them to reach their goal. For those looking for a healthy alternative for their snacking, R.N. is looking for local support to bring that to you.
