Quickie: Blue Moon Mexican Cafe, Englewood, NJ

Blue Moon Mexican Cafes have long been prominent in the area. With locations in Woodcliff Lake, Wyckoff, at one time Old Tappan, Bronxville and of course Englewood, they are probably the premier Mexican chain in Bergen not named Chipotle.

In the last year, Blue Moon in Englewood has also had an expansion. They have taken over the space next door formerly housing Ann Taylor (at last count, the number of major NATIONAL retailers who recently couldn’t make it in Englewood: Victoria’s Secret, Panera Bread, Ann Taylor) which has also allowed The Kitchen to move from their space on the outskirts of Western Palisade Ave to Blue Moon’s former spot.

It’s been a while since we last visited them, but their menu has seen some expansion and they regularly host many live bands and karaoke nights.

Fajita Empanadas (stuffed with skirt steak, muenster cheese, peppers and onions served with chipotle ranch)

Fiesta Salad (strips of honey lime chicken and tortilla strips mixed with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, black beans and corn, served with lime-cilantro dressing)

Chipotle Chicken Tacos

Cheesecake Chimichangas (cheesecake wrapped in a flour tortilla, lightly fried and rolled in cinnamon sugar)
